Centrifugal pumps, with the radial flow pump as the most common, have an impeller that rotates, creating a vacuum that moves the fluid. As the impeller rotates in the housing, the pressure at the inlet decreases. The fluid is forced out of the housing, increasing pressure enough to discharge the fluid at the outlet.

The two types of turbine pumps, vertical turbine pumps and submersible pumps, are specialized centrifugal pumps that move water from deep underground, such as from a well or reservoir. We distribute Bell & Gossett, a Xylem brand, offering multi-stage vertical turbine pumps designed with improved efficiency. A submersible pump is equipped to pump ground solids into smaller sizes, commonly used in irrigation, sewage system, and wastewater treatment.

Positive displacement pumps use a reciprocating, rotary, or diaphragm method to draw fluid into the inlet and move it to the outlet for discharge. They differ from centrifugal pumps in that they move water at a consistent speed, no matter what the pressure is on the inlet. Positive displacement pumps are frequently used as asphalt pumps, oil pumps, or other heavy-duty pumps.
